$20 quiche that feeds 6–8 (no rolling pin, no chilling)

This is a low-effort pie crust + quiche that’s been working well for me lately. Minimal ingredients, no special equipment. Crust (press-in): 1½ cups flour ½ tsp salt 1–2 tbsp sugar (optional) ½ cup melted butter Mix until it looks like clumpy sand, press into a pie dish, bake at 350°F for ~20 min until lightly golden. Filling ratio: 3 eggs + ~1¼ cups dairy (milk/cream/whatever mix) Then add whatever you have. I've been doing broccoli (blanched 2 min) cheddar a little mustard, salt, pepper tarragon + lemon zest (optional but good) Bake at 375°F ~35–40 min until set with a slight wobble in the center. Feeds a group, reheats well, flexible with ingredients.

Is there a way to get stronger without building visible muscle or getting big?

Okay so I (16M) have been working out a lot recently but pretty much neglecting my arms because I don't wanna get like super muscular (I like being a twig). My main focuses have been my abs and my legs but recently I decided if I wanna get stronger then I gotta train my arms too. I do "full body" workouts (meaning I'll train multiple parts of my body on some days and then the other parts on other days depending on where I want to be developed) and then I take a break for a full day. For example, M(workout) T(break) W(workout) T (break) etc etc. I've only done my arms twice since I started; the first time was the day before last and the second time was today and they're already getting bigger and more defined which is a no for me because I want shredded abs, my tiny slutty little waist, big ass legs, and my thin arms but I also wanna be be strong. I guess it's called a sleeper build? Idk; what do I do?

How to get into the habit of working out at home?

Hi everyone, I'm sure everybody on this subreddit knows the importance of building good habits and getting into a routine. It's the key to long term success, after all. For context, I've had quite a lifestyle change in the past year. Before, I was extremely stagnant; under 1000 steps a day and I would consider it a win if I left the house once a week. I'm taking better care of myself now, a part time job means I have something to help me maintain routine. I walk to and from work and the work itself is somewhat active, so I'm not sitting at a desk all day (or like retail, where I'm standing in one spot for 8 hours). My stamina and energy levels have gotten so much better. I've managed to integrate walks into my life outside of work and I'm a lot happier for it. Another pleasant change is muscle definition! I wouldn't even consider myself toned. But I can somewhat see the outline of my muscles for the first time in my life and that makes me really happy. So, whilst these are good things, I've reached a plateau. There's only so much walking and light lifting can do. I've eyed the local pool and gym but I'm left feeling uninspired. So, I figured I could do stuff at home. But there are way too many distractions and I can't get into the habit of actually doing anything. There's always something else that needs doing, another hobby I'd rather indulge in, or I'm too tired from work. "Working out at set times" doesn't work but neither does "do it whenever you feel like it". I've considered getting a personal trainer to hold me accountable. But that's not a sustainable idea with my current pay check. I feel like I'm stuck so I'd like a bit of advice on how to get the ball rolling. One last thing: my aim is to get a little toned, improve my core and joint heath, make sure I don't get winded after going up a hill, *not pushing my body to the limit.* I don't want fitness to take over my life but I want to take a more active role in my physical health. Does that make sense??

Any fellow anxiety prone folk here who have struggled with handstands, more out

Hey all, I'm working towards handstand and handstand pushups at the moment. I can do 8+ reps of HSPUs assisted, near vertical against a wall, but when it comes to practising handstands, or even frog stands as somewhere to start from, the fear of bashing my head/face/teeth into the floor is preventing me from pulling it off. I'm just wondering if anyone here has been through the same but come out the other end and can now do handstands/handstand push ups? If so, what were/was the thing/s that helped?

Mangio regolarmente frutta, verdura, legumi, frutta secca, uova, r

Progression Route to Eventually do Handstand Pushups?

Hi, so for the past year or so I have been doing a mix of calisthenics workouts along with the use of 2 dumbbells and more recently a set of 10 lb ankle weights. I usually just workout at home because a gym membership in my region costs a lot and is out of my budget at the moment. So I was wondering, if I wanted to start off as a “beginner” and progress in say 6 months, what would be the best workout routine to work towards eventually being able to do handstand pushups and like being able to go from a pushup position into a handstand, etc. In the past I would workout daily for 1-2 hrs and while I did see some growth and stuff, I still had trouble hitting certain muscle groups or hit a wall in terms of how much of a workout I would get from the dumbbells and stuff, so with that being said could someone give me a good 6-7 day a week workout plan to eventually achieve this goal? I’d appreciate any advice!

How to build strength to handstand from headstand/frog stand

So as title states need advice on best way to build strength to push up into a handstand and how others achieved this, I can hold a wall handstand for long enough I can do numerous pike push ups with proper form have started using a ten kilo vest and upped the pike intensity using feet on bench, despite this I still can’t seem to press my body weight from a headstand or if come down in a wall handstand can only manage one or two half reps back up I have made some progress as before I couldn’t do as much as I’m doing, maybe it’s just slow progress but feels like I’ve hit a plateau or something.. any help much appreciated.

First time at home schedule for a former powerlifter

Hi everyone, I’m a former powerlifter who stopped training years ago because of knee problems, I’m looking for a simple bodyweight workout routine to do at home. I'm looking for this because I know myself and if I'd return to the gym the barbell will call me like last time and I like too much lifting heavy weights, that I should avoid. I’m especially interested in exercises for the shoulders and the back, since I often have pain in that area. What would you recommend? I’m thinking about training every day for a short period of time, since I don’t have much time available. I don't have much space.

levator scapulae hurts when doing pullups

I don't know a lot about anatomy but I'm pretty sure it's the levator scapulae on the right, it kind of hurts when I turn my head and when I trace the place that "hurts" and use pictures as reference it looks like that muscle. I've had this problem for years, every time I start doingpull ups consistantly. It starts hurting after a couple of days. I try to make sure I pinch my shouldblades back and together, try to keep my chin tucked. The first few times I had a tendency to look sideways while doing pullups but i stopped doing that but the problem persists. I also make sure to go slow and steady. Is there some progression I can do to strengthen the muscles needed, could it be some kind of inbalence. It's also always, and i mean always the right levator scapulae it has never been the one on the left. I've also had this happen while bouldering (once). (if it matters, i can do about 7-10 pullups) I'm not really looking for medical advice but more for form cues or exercises that can help strengthen the right muscles.

Ankle mobility exercises that actually work?

so i've been dealing with really stiff ankles for like months now and it's starting to mess with my squats and basically any lower body movement. I feel like i'm walking around with concrete blocks attached to my feet lol I've tried some basic stretches i found on youtube but honestly nothing seems to stick. Like i'll do them for a few days and feel slightly better but then i'm back to square one. Anyone have ankle mobility exercises that actually made a lasting difference? Preferably stuff i can do at home without buying a bunch of equipment.

    Any advice for pull ups?

I (25M) have been working out for 3 months now and have built a solid routine that I am able to progressively overload. I have done my routine with mostly my body weight (aside from some resistance bands for bicep and forearm curls) but I’d like to get a bar to be able to do pull ups. I’ve heard that they are quite difficult to fully complete, and I definitely don’t want to overestimate my strength just yet. So, my question is, does anyone have any advice or anything that really helped them when it came to progressing to completing a full pull up? Basically, what could I potentially expect with the process of building towards that first full pull up?

Semi-newb question: Is DOMS a useful indicator of adequate volume/load?

The question is pretty much what the title asked: Can you say that if you have a little soreness the next day, you did an at least somewhat useful workout, and if you feel nothing, you need more stimulus, so either more sets or a more challenging way to target that muscle group? My intention is to pitch this answer more to beginners or long-term "adequate fitness" goal people (e.g. The Olds, like myself, who are trying to avoid both sarcopenia and injury), not elite athletes or people who need to make maximal gains.

How to add calories to meals for a pre-teen boy?

Our family eats super clean because we have a bunch of autoimmune diseases and the kids are at risk for these. We don't really follow any diet trends but it's probably most similar to a paleo gluten-free diet. Typical diet is red meat, chicken, pork, fish, fruit & vegetables, nut butters, gluten free grains/noodles. Snacks are things like Chomps, gluten free crackers & cheese. My son is a preteen and is just ravenous but is also a picky eater. What are some ways I can add healthy calories to his food? I was thinking an extra baked potato with butter for dinner. He's already started eating an apple & peanut butter after most other meals. Any other ideas?

    Home gym in progress

Took a couple of years but my home gym is finally starting to take shape. Have tried to make the most out of the limited space we have with versatile pieces. \-REP AB-3000 2.0 FID adjustable bench - meh, does the job but not my favorite especially seeing some of the new benches that have come out \-REP x PÉPIN FAST Series Adjustable Dumbbell - love these, especially once I got the cradle properly adjusted and setup. Also a game changer to get them off the ground on a (albeit makeshift) stand \-Rogue Echo Air Bike - hate it but love it \-Freak Athlete Hyper Pro - very versatile for the price \-Bells of Steel Cable Tower - 83 inch ceilings limit us in the height department but adding this for cable work has been very nice. Selectorized is also very convenient versus the plate loaded version. Matt Rosenman’s solution for low ceilings was also very key to making lat pull downs more functional than sitting on the floor. \-Wall Control panels for organizing accessories. Planning on someday getting an Ares or Altitude rack system when we move houses so didn’t want to spend on a short term rack that would still be limited with the height. But having a gym at home has been more of a luxury than I thought it would be.

    Weighted calisthenics goals/standards

I’m curious if there are certain metrics for the various weighted calisthenics movement that exist as strength standards, similar to things like 1/2/3/4 plates for OHP/B/S/D as a novice/intermediate marker for barbell moves. Of course there are: \-Weighted pull ups \-Weighted dips \-Weighted push ups (maybe less common) \-Weighted inverted rows (also maybe less common) \-Weighted muscle ups For some of the big compound movements. Bodyweight can vary relative strength and some elite competitors have crazy numbers. But how about a general rule of thumb where you are considered strong in the calisthenics community? Naturally in regular gyms calisthenics isn’t a focus so even the bodyweight versions themselves are often seen as strong. It could be a percentage of bodyweight added, an absolute total weight, or by plates. I feel intuitively that adding 1x bw extra to push ups pull ups or dips would be a very strong benchmark, for example. What are your guys thoughts or experiences?

Best workout gear for a tiny apartment?

I’m trying to make working out at home more consistent, but I live in a pretty tiny apartment and want to stick mostly to bodyweight stuff. I do not really have room for weights or big equipment, so I’m looking for things that make bodyweight workouts better without taking over the whole place. I’ve been looking at pull-up bars, gymnastic rings, parallettes, resistance bands, sliders, yoga mats, ab wheels, stuff like that, but I’m not sure what is actually worth buying and what just ends up sitting in a corner. For anyone who does bodyweight workouts at home, what compact gear do you actually use regularly? I’d love recommendations for things that are good for strength, mobility, or making basic exercises harder without needing a ton of space.

What’s the best pathway to an L Sit?

Ive been trying to get my L sit but im finding it hard to bridge the gap between having my legs tucked and straightened (even bent a little). My current progression and routine for L sit training is chair sit (legs tucked) I can do that for 3 sets of 20s, doing Single leg pike compressions and hanging knee raises. What I’m finding even when it comes to the hanging knee raises is that I can do 3x12 but as soon as I extend my legs I can feel a lot of strain in my lower back. What exercises should I be doing to bridge the gap between tucked legs and eventually extending them? I’m assuming my weakness is my compression and hip flexors as I can’t to pike compressions without momentum. Basically, when I actually try an L sit on the floor, the best I could do is a supported L sit (one foot on the ground). Can’t do N sit either. If anyone can suggest the best way to get to it, I would highly appreciate it.

Fighter Pull-up Program, finished 4 weeks

I started doing FPP when I had a max of 6 and I did a 5-days-on/2-days-off protocol to better match my schedule. I started with 6/5/4/3/2 on day 1 and just completed 9/9/8/7/6 on day 20. I'm definitely taking a break from FPP for now 😅 One thing I learned from doing this is where my weak points are because my forearms are smoked! I also think it helped me psychologically, because after finishing week 2 (7/7/6/5/4) I didn't think I had 8 in me for the following Monday. Likewise when I cranked out 9 for the first time this Monday. And an unexpected skill I unlocked is the hanging rest, which I didn't have the stamina for before starting FPP at the beginning of the month. I'm going to take a week off from doing any pull-up work and then shuffle it back into my workouts (I took pull-ups out of my workouts when I started FPP).

    Hybrid training questions

I want to make a full body program for 3 times a week. but, im not sure how i should make my program. I was thinking of starting each muscle group with a bodyweight exercise to pour all my power into it(calisthenics based). And then follow up with 2 compound exercises for it. For example i do pushups then smith machine bench press then inclined bp.as for back im lacking on it so that's why i chose 3 times a week full body to train it efficiently.i usually start with assisted pull ups then lat pull downs and t bar rows. As for legs i honestly dont know, last week i started directly with weights 2 exercises for quads and one for hamstrings(smith machine squats/hack squats, leg extension, lying leg curl). My goal is generally to unlock pistol squats, muscle ups, handstand pushups and mobility. but im not sure if my approach to hybrid training is right or not. Please advice cause i don't know if i should do more volume or keep it as it is or do other exercises. I also isolate each smaller muscle group(biceps, triceps, each head of the shoulder)at the end of work out with 1 exercises or should i add another day for them to isolate them and see better results? Anyways i hope y'all read my rant and advice me and thanks.

Maybe something like 2,3 exercises I can do 4 times a day everyday with increasing difficulty to get great abs. Please only suggest if you've done it consistently and gotten great results without those normal gym routines. PS: Please no abs are made in kitchen half truth. I completely agree on this point but still I want to have stronger abs, can dial in the bf% later.

    Should I go to gym?

I'm currently doing Nick-E's BWF Primer routine, and I've been at it for a month. I can't do standard push-ups yet, so I'm doing incline push-ups instead. Also I don't really have a good setup at home for rows. I've been using door handles, but for the next progression I have no idea what I could use. I only have one chair at home. Another thing that's been bothering me is that I can do 3×12 incline push-ups on one surface, but when I move to the next lower surface (from the kitchen counter to my desk), I can't even do a single rep. Would it make sense to join a gym so I can adjust the incline more gradually, or should I just keep increasing my reps on the current surface (maybe from 12 to 15–17 reps) before trying the lower surface again? I'm aware that people usually don't recommend doing more than 12 reps. If neither option is ideal, what would you recommend? The closest gym is an 8-minute walk from home and it just opened in April. I was actually thinking about joining when they had their big grand-opening discount, but I have trouble starting new things. Just thinking about having to leave the house and walk to the gym makes it harder for me to stick with it. I'm making progress with my current routine, but I'm worried that joining a gym might disrupt the consistency I've managed to build so far. TIA.

    EASY CRUNCHY CHICKEN SALAD

    * 2 pieces chicken breast * 0.3 pieces red cabbage * 3 pieces celery sticks * 1 pieces crispy apple (e.g. Cosmic Crisp or Pink Lady) * 2 tbsp mayo * 3 tbsp white yogurt * 1 tbsp maple syrup * 1 tbsp mustard * 4 garlic cloves * 1 cup water **Method** 1. Bake the chicken: Place 2 pieces chicken breast in a baking dish with 1 cup of water and 3 pieces of garlic cloves. Bake in the oven until cooked through — about 45 mins. 2. Shred the chicken: Shred the baked chicken using two forks. If you own a stand mixer, use it and it should sort itself out. 3. Prep the slaw: Thinly slice 0.3 pieces red cabbage, cut 3 pieces celery sticks into thin slices, and chop 1 pieces crispy apple (e.g. Cosmic Crisp or Pink Lady). Make sure you get a really good crispy apple — it matters. 4. Make the dressing: Mix 3 tablespoons mayo and 3 tablespoons white yogurt together 50/50. Add 1 tablespoons maple syrup for a bit of sweetness and 1 teaspoons mustard for spiciness. Mix well. 5. Combine and serve: Toss the shredded chicken with the slaw, then add the dressing and mix everything together. Hope you enjoy! I ate this on a toasted bread so it was crunch on crunch on crunch [Photo here!](https://theoatandberry.com/2026/03/29/easy-crunchy-chicken-salad/)

What would you recommend for someone buys food at a Safeway?

I am aware that Safeway has a reputation for pricey food. I think the bread and peanut butter could work on a budget though.

Did training Manna really make your shoulders bulletproof?

I've read it in Overcoming Gravity before: once you reach a certain point in manna training, little aches and pains in the shoulders are a thing of the past. Obviously, this means Steven Low believes it to be true. He's awesome! But, for other people who train manna, has this been your experience as well? This is coming from a guy who does face pulls all the time and doesn't neglect rows but still can't scratch his own back. I don't really enjoy training static skills, but this aspect of training for the manna makes it sound quite attractive. I think it'd be helpful to share for the whole community.

I'm quite mobile and flexible for a fat guy,so i was thinking some form of calesthenics? The main issues are 1. I don't know where to start because I'm overweight and might not be able to do a lot of push ups or stuff like that right away. 2.i don't know what type of Exercises to start with 3.i had a lumbar discectomy so i need something that won't put too much pressure on my lower back. Could anyone give me a guide or point me in the right direction? If this post doesn't fit on this sub could someone give me recs for other subs to post it on too?

Installed a few new tricky horse stall mats(need to re-tape still) and want to s

I've got a decent amount of experience with these suckers now, after multiple moves and then installing a few more to tie the space up, I wanted to pass on some tips/tricks I've picked up that have been super helpful for me. For moving these heavy awkward bastards I found using ratchet straps and rolling them up makes moving them a breeze. Especially if you have two people. But I moved three down to the basement by either holding by them at the ends or bear hugging them. To ratchet them I basically I chuck one hook under the mat, go to the opposite side and roll until the hook is exposed, hook it up to the ratchet and crank away. I used two towards each end of the mat. For cutting I used a lenox gold blade with a utility knife. Fresh blade helps immensely. I measured and marked with a silver sharpie, then did first cut as just a light cut to get it started, I took my 48" level and stuck it under the mat where the cut is to raise it up and open up the cut up, from there I just kept making passes with the utility knife until I was through, usually like 3-4 cuts or so. You could use a 2x4 for this or anything that raises the mat up a bit to open the cut. For smell I always get them home, plop em in the driveway, and then scrub down a couple times with simple green and then I just let them sit in the direct sun for a couple days to off gas a bit more. They still will have some smell, no way around it, but this seems to make it bearable. You could probably let them bake in the sun for longer if they still really stink but as a busy Dad I don't got time for that so a couple days does it. That's about all I got, hope this information helps other who go this route. Feel free to hit me up with any questions!

Best Beginner Routine I Can't Overcomplicate

Just starting out working out... and looking for advice on the most basic routine. I am hoping to stay dedicated to a daily body weight workout by only doing 3 exercises or less. Anything more than that I get stressed and quit (and if gym is involved I will eventually miss a day and then 2 and it snowballs and I quit). I want to master a few movements and add more once I see results. Does this super simple routine sound good? Day 1 - 100 push ups Day 2 - 100 body weight squats Day 3 - as many pull ups as possible (but what to do if I can't do 1)? \* each exercise is every 3 days \* reps to failure and rest then to get the total # as quickly as I can or should I do a set # of reps? Thanks for the advice! This looks like an awesome community and excited to get started on something so SIMPLE I can actually commit and stick with it!

Does anyone know any Animal Flow trainers who sell their workout videos or progr

I’ve recently become interested in Animal Flow and similar movement-based training styles that focus on mobility, coordination, body control, and functional strength. I’m looking for trainers who have built a solid library of workout videos, online courses, or subscription-based programs that people can follow remotely. Ideally, I’m interested in creators who have been producing content consistently, have an engaged audience, and offer structured training rather than just random YouTube clips. If you’ve personally used a program or follow a trainer you would recommend, I’d love to hear about them. Please share their name, website, Instagram, YouTube channel, or any platform where their content is available. Thanks!

Keep Going! Just hit 3x8 pull ups. Inspo Post

I made [another](https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/comments/1qm835h/just_managed_3x4_clean_pull_up_sets_some_beginner/) progress post a few months ago, but thought it'd be worth while posting again. After weeks (like 6 or more) of being plateaued at 3x6 pull ups, I've just this week managed to hit the magic 8 (magic of course being a largely arbitrary number). I'm pretty happy with that given I couldn't do a single pull up in January. \^\_\^ I've been doing the RR consistently 3 times a week since January and in addition to getting 'stronger' I feel much better and well holistically. If you're looking for tips/tricks that worked for me they are largely in still in the previous post. But I wanted to make another post as I found these post actually quite helpful in the early days when I was doubting the efficacy of the routine. Stick with it! As a colleague said to me once 'You can't go wrong getting strong!' PS If you're wondering how I got through the pull up platau, I introduced weighted push ups early (at 6 rather than 8 reps) and after a few weeks saw my max increase.
