Dumbbell Find
Picked up these dumbbells (50-95lbs in 5 lbs increments) and pretty excited with how good they look. They were custom made for the University of Cincinnati then donated to Weber Schools who eventually retired the set. Had to drive 9 hours to get them but definitely worth it!

It’s never really finished, but here’s where I’m at.
Finally got everything assembled and dialed in. Really happy with how it turned out. Still a few small things I’d like to upgrade in the future, but it’s finally at the point where I can just enjoy training. Let me know what you think or what you’d add next!

Finally set back up!
Its been 5 weeks since I took my gym apart for this move. Finally was able to tidy up enough today and it is now usable, except for the squat rack not being bolted down, and the cable tower not attached to the wall. But, they'll get done Sunday, so, I am back in my place next week for the new block 💪💪💪

Finally did it
Have wanted to build out a home gym for the better part of a decade and finally made it a reality!! Space is a priority so needed everything to be able to be stored away with limited footprint. Next on the wishlist is an adjustable dumbbell set.

Home gym in progress
Took a couple of years but my home gym is finally starting to take shape. Have tried to make the most out of the limited space we have with versatile pieces. \-REP AB-3000 2.0 FID adjustable bench - meh, does the job but not my favorite especially seeing some of the new benches that have come out \-REP x PÉPIN FAST Series Adjustable Dumbbell - love these, especially once I got the cradle properly adjusted and setup. Also a game changer to get them off the ground on a (albeit makeshift) stand \-Rogue Echo Air Bike - hate it but love it \-Freak Athlete Hyper Pro - very versatile for the price \-Bells of Steel Cable Tower - 83 inch ceilings limit us in the height department but adding this for cable work has been very nice. Selectorized is also very convenient versus the plate loaded version. Matt Rosenman’s solution for low ceilings was also very key to making lat pull downs more functional than sitting on the floor. \-Wall Control panels for organizing accessories. Planning on someday getting an Ares or Altitude rack system when we move houses so didn’t want to spend on a short term rack that would still be limited with the height. But having a gym at home has been more of a luxury than I thought it would be.

Squat Rack Uprights protector
3D prints. [https://www.printables.com/model/1796287-squat-rack-upright-protector](https://www.printables.com/model/1796287-squat-rack-upright-protector) I made this to protect the powder coat on my uprights. Made for 75x75mm, 26mm holes metric uprights. I use it to protect the upright when doing barbell calf raises and when resting the barbell on the crossmembers during the deadlift. Probably not necessary but something I use to keep the squat rack looking new. Most won't care.

Installed a few new tricky horse stall mats(need to re-tape still) and want to s
I've got a decent amount of experience with these suckers now, after multiple moves and then installing a few more to tie the space up, I wanted to pass on some tips/tricks I've picked up that have been super helpful for me. For moving these heavy awkward bastards I found using ratchet straps and rolling them up makes moving them a breeze. Especially if you have two people. But I moved three down to the basement by either holding by them at the ends or bear hugging them. To ratchet them I basically I chuck one hook under the mat, go to the opposite side and roll until the hook is exposed, hook it up to the ratchet and crank away. I used two towards each end of the mat. For cutting I used a lenox gold blade with a utility knife. Fresh blade helps immensely. I measured and marked with a silver sharpie, then did first cut as just a light cut to get it started, I took my 48" level and stuck it under the mat where the cut is to raise it up and open up the cut up, from there I just kept making passes with the utility knife until I was through, usually like 3-4 cuts or so. You could use a 2x4 for this or anything that raises the mat up a bit to open the cut. For smell I always get them home, plop em in the driveway, and then scrub down a couple times with simple green and then I just let them sit in the direct sun for a couple days to off gas a bit more. They still will have some smell, no way around it, but this seems to make it bearable. You could probably let them bake in the sun for longer if they still really stink but as a busy Dad I don't got time for that so a couple days does it. That's about all I got, hope this information helps other who go this route. Feel free to hit me up with any questions!

My new garage Home Gym in Florida!
Still a work in progress but here’s what it’s looking like so far. We’re in process of putting up second set of mirrors with floating lights. Equipment includes Rogue Monster Lite rack, Rogue Ohio Bar, Rep Fitness Nighthawk bench, Dumbell set with Rep Rack, Peloton, and commercial Star Trac treadmill. I love the way it’s coming out so far. Let me know your thoughts!

Homemade weight sleds
I made these for the high school S&C classes I teach, but I might need to make another one for me to keep at home. So happy with how they turned out. The elephant in the room is that the skids are simple treated 4x4s. I'm very curious how they will hold up.

Now and Then
Recently moved my gym from a small 70 ft² corner of a two-car garage to the 300+ ft² wall of a new shop. Next: some mirrors, a custom heavy club hanger, and some cardio equipment. - REP PR-5000 93" 4-post half rack with storage wings - REP AB-4100 bench - Mix of Onnit and White Lion Athletics heavy clubs - X-Over resistance bands - REP chrome curl bar - GetRx'd WOD barbell - REP bumper plates - REP knurled fixed dumbbells - Rogue E-Coat kettlebells Current total spent: $12,596.73. Cost savings of the ($200/mo) Crossfit style gym I was considering before building a home gym, over the same time period: $10,600. This doesn't factor in extensive travel time to the gym, nor the priceless time spent as a family with kids exercising together.
